We just transferred pretty stories off wordpress.com and onto a self-hosted .org blog! Hopefully I didn’t screw anything up, and everything transferred without anyone noticing! But somehow you ended up here anyway, so you should check out our new posts on http://prettystories.net 😀 😀
I can’t believe I’ve been blogging for this long (i.e. more than three hours) without mentioning my love for Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab perfume oils. I’ve been collecting them since 2009, but focusing on them never left me enough discretionary cash for their sister site, Black Phoenix Trading Post. But during their Halloween update last year, I finally got to try one of their hair glosses and absolutely loved it. I was really excited to get more, as they had some exclusive scents for New York Comic Con, but I was working there as a crew member and unfortunately when I was finally free to explore the con off-duty, both of them had already sold out. I may or may not have outwardly cried. For hours. ahem. But here is the one I bought last year, Lightning Storm!
Vivid flashes of dazzling electricity: white mint, white tea, white ginger, a jolt of yuzu, and electric green lime!
These past few days, I’ve been an ADULT and did GROWN-UP THINGS like start a retirement investment fund and go to the opthalmologist wtf who am i. Anyway since I was spending all this money on bettering myself, I also decided to get my hair cut and recolored – I grew my bangs out and failed at trimming them so I stopped doing anything to my hair and just shoved bobby pins into it and hoped it would go away (I’m a Leo, I only know how to either go all out or do nothing at all) (also conclusive evidence of my adulthood).
;______; you know you’re getting old when you start complaining about how quickly time is passing. haha.
This brush has seriously changed my life. I bought it at an Etude House in Singapore last summer, where it was on sale for like THREE SING DOLLARS. I then spent months regretting the fact that I didn’t choose to clear out the store’s stock, and am now seriously considering grabbing another one for more than twice that (lol I say that like it’s a huge amount) on eBay.
Now that the weather is
melting us down into human sludge so warm, my face produces all the oils 😐 I am forever on the lookout for a sunscreen that doesn’t basically liquefy my face, but in the meantime a good oil-control product is always welcome. You might remember the review I did last year on the Maybelline foundation (god those photos sucked i am sorry) that worked really well for me; I loved it until I dropped my bag, with the compact inside, ON A CARPETED FLOOR and half of it just crumbled to dust and misery and now I refuse to bring it outside.
First off, I am so, so sorry for the impromtu hiatus – I’ve been busy doing boring life-maintenance whatevery things for the most part. But something really exciting happened to me recently, and I wanted to share!
Sir Edward, Mochi, and Buttons!
Sorry for taking so long to finish these relatively short reviews – I’ve been adjusting my life schedule around my new full-time job, and as you can probably tell, I am failing 😐 hahahaaaaaah I have so little time nowadays augh
Anyway, I finally put the third mask pack on my face! HERE ARE MY THOUGHTS.
I’ve been using Duo’s lash adhesive pretty much since I started wearing falsies, but was never 100% happy with it. The amount of time it takes to get tacky is just annoying, not to mention the fact that it smells like dead fish (please tell me I’m not the only one who thinks this!). I finally used up my tube a while ago, and have been relying on the little packs of adhesive that come packaged with lashes. All of them suck and I don’t know why lash companies bother including them. The other day I was walking to the subway and a drop of water fell on my eyelid. My lashes fell right off! Good thing I was on my way home after work. @_____@
I’ve been interested in the adhesives that have brush applicators, but until recently, Western brands haven’t really made any. So the last time I bought some clothes from Runway Channel, I decided to pick up the Jewerich Eyelash Keeper as well,
because it is pink for no reason at all >______>
I spend about half the week at my boyfriend’s apartment, and lugging things back and forth is a real pain. Some time ago I had to bring over some clothing, and I’d wanted to bring my laptop as well because we’ve started playing Diablo III again (should I get the expansion? I feel like I’d need it if I want to continue having fun) and I’d prefer to join in rather than sit there and watch him play with our friends haha. But the only thing I had to transport it is a huge messenger bag, and it doesn’t fit in the tote I use to hold my clothes. I had to leave it behind that time because I wasn’t about to carry two giant bags plus my purse onto public transportation with me. So I decided to buy a laptop sleeve! I wanted a cute one with a pocket for my power cord and mouse, and eventually stumbled across this one by Babimini on Etsy. It was adorable but a bit pricey, so I added it to my favorites but held off in hopes of finding something cheaper. I never did find one that fit my 15.6″ laptop (and had a pocket) that I quite liked as much as this one though, so after I filed my tax return, I indulged myself.
I don’t know how widespread of an event this is, but I know several big cities in the US participate in Restaurant Week. I believe it started in New York though! The idea behind it is that participating restaurants offer prix fixe lunches and dinners for a set price. Last year they raised the prices to $25 lunches and $38 dinners, but even so, it’s still often an opportunity to try out places that would normally be out of your budget! In NYC, it happens twice a year, during the winter and the summer. This time, I went to lunch with Yaling and then to dinner with my boyfriend.
Yaling and I went to a Mediterranean restaurant around Gramercy, called Barbounia. It took us days to choose a place because we wanted to go everywhereeeee. I ended up picking this one mostly based on the dessert choices, haha. No regrets – everything was fantastic (I tasted some of Yaling’s meal and gave her a few bites of my food – definitely everything) and I would gladly go back to try their regular menu! It was such a cute, cozy place too, with high, arched ceilings, chandeliers holding rows of (fake but still atmospheric!) flickering candles, booths covered with throw pillows, and cheerful music. I wish I hadn’t been too afraid to take pictures of the decor! social anxiety why do you do this to me.
Bread and olive oil that was super delicious. I hate it when restaurants give you awesome bread because then you end up eating all of it and filling up before your food arrives. But somehow I managed to inhale everything I ordered 😉
